Research Activities

  • LNP Profiling

RNA therapeutics represent an innovative approach in modern medicine, enabling precise interventions at the genetic level. Their versatility allows for the treatment of various diseases, including cancer, rare genetic disorders, and emerging infectious diseases. The rapid adaptability of RNA-based approaches underscores their potential to efficiently address public health challenges. However, the successful development of RNA therapeutics depends on robust delivery systems such as lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Ensuring the safety, efficacy, and tissue specificity of these delivery systems is key to the effective use of RNA-based therapies and to advances in personalized medicine. The main objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive analytical toolkit for evaluating the efficacy, tissue specificity, immunogenicity, cytotoxicity, and off-target effects of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).

In the field of cancer diagnostics, the IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences and the Wiener Neustadt Biotech Campus Tulln University of Applied Sciences are jointly breaking new ground in Lower Austria. The effectiveness of drugs on cancer cells is examined under the so-called Raman microscope and evaluated with artificial intelligence (AI).
