FAQs
Funding amount
moreDepending on the host country, your internship can be funded with around € 620 to € 670 per month.
Duration
moreGenerally minimum 2 (full!) months and maximum 12 months (= Long-term-mobility)
For health care programs there is the additional possibility to do a short-term-mobility of 5 to 30 days. A short-term-mobility is only possible as a mandatory internship (= at least 3 ECTS have to be accredited at FHWN).
Requirements
more- Please be aware that the International Office does not arrange internships. It is only responsible for managing the Erasmus+ funding once you have found an internship position yourself.
- Funding is generally only available for internships in Erasmus+ programme countries (EU member states as well as Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey). For health-related degree-programmes funding is available to a limited extent also outside the programme countries (e.g. Switzerland). Please contact the International Office for further information.
- Any organization within the Erasmus+ programme countries can be a hosting organisation, provided it operates in the public or private sector and is active in the labour market or in the fields of education, training and youth. EU institutions are excluded (see “Exclusion criteria”).
- Your study program must confirm that the internship is a related to the content of your studies.
- The internship must be a full-time position.
Exclusion criteria
moreErasmus+ funding is not possible in the following cases:
- If your habitual residence is already in the host country and you do not have any residence in any other country. Please still contact the International Office in such cases in order to check a possible eligibility thoroughly.
- If the internship is with an EU institution or other EU bodies, including specialized agencies, organisations managing EU programs, EU parliament members, or private individuals.
- If you do not have enough Erasmus+ months left (you can spend up to 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor/ Master) via Erasmus+)
- If the internship is only a part-time position.
What internship types exist?
moreThere are three different types of internships. For each type you need confirmation from your study programme that the internship is related to the content of your study programme!
- Mandatory internship:
If your curriculum includes an internship, it is considered a mandatory internship under the Erasmus+ program. For a mandatory internship, you must have at least 3 ECTS credits per month of stay accredited at FHWN for the internship. For a mandatory internship you need approval from your study programme regarding its content, number of hours and duration.
- Voluntary internship:
If you do not have an internship in your curriculum, you can do a so-called voluntary internship. It is usually completed during non-teaching periods.
- Graduate internship:
You can receive funding for an internship that you begin after your graduation and end within 12 months after graduation. The application for funding of a graduate internship must be submitted while you are still a student, at least 2 months before your final exam! Currently a graduate traineeship can only be funded with a maximum of 6 months.
