Our study programmes:

Bachelor’s:

Biotechnical Processes (BSc)
Over the course of six semesters, you will receive a solid scientific education and discover how diverse and future-oriented biotechnology can be. From the first semester on, you will work in small groups in laboratories equipped with the latest technology.

Biomedical Science in Tulln (BSc)
This Bachelor's programme focuses on the analysis of human samples and the preparation of laboratory findings. In this practice-oriented programme, you will learn the biomedical analysis process in both theory and practice.

Software Engineering & Digital Systems (BSc)
Our Software Engineering programme provides a solid education in software engineering, IT security, and IT management. You will learn how to plan, develop, and maintain software solutions for complex systems to meet the demands of modern industry.

Master’s:

Bio Data Science – extra-occupational (MSc)
New technologies are rapidly revolutionising biological research, and bioinformatics tools are essential for analysing and interpreting vast amounts of data. We will present fascinating examples from teaching and research, as well as exciting insights into current Master’s theses.

Biotechnology & Analytics (MSc)

Cutting-edge chemical and molecular biology tools for use in environmental biotechnology, cell factories, food quality, and drug discovery. The programme covers the entire spectrum of biotechnology – your perfect career springboard.

Visit our high-tech laboratories!

Molecular Biology

In the molecular biology lab, you will discover how cell culture systems are used in cancer research, how diagnostic tools are developed, and how microorganisms produce new active substances.

Biochemical Methodology and Protein Analytics

Whether enzymes, immune response mediators or biomarkers – proteins are involved in all physiological processes. Therefore, purification, analysis and characterisation of these biomolecules are of great importance. We will show how these methods are practically taught in the Master's degree programme Biotechnology & Analytics.

From Media Optimisation to the Fermentation of a Recombinant Microorganism

Using statistical experimental design, media optimisation is carried out in shake flasks. In the fermenter, the batch, fed-batch, and production phases are run through to produce a recombinant protein.

Mass Spectrometry

Whether in life sciences, environmental science, medicine or space research – modern mass spectrometers provide answers to a wide range of questions. Be surprised at what is possible in our Master’s programme and beyond in this field.

Textile Recycling

Textile recycling is one of the hot topics for climate neutrality, as established by the EU Green Deal. Learn how textiles can be kept in circulation and what biotechnological processes the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt is developing for this purpose.

Environmental Biotechnology

Using state-of-the-art environmental biotechnology methods, environmental toxins are detected, environmental risk assessments are carried out, and solutions for soil contamination are developed.

Metagenomics – one of the many exciting applications of the new omics technologies

New technologies are rapidly transforming biological research, and bioinformatics tools are necessary to evaluate and interpret large data sets. One example is metagenomics, which deals with sequencing and analysis of microbial communities and also has important medical applications.

Spectroscopy

Optical spectroscopy can be used to monitor/control biotechnological processes and to characterise various biological samples. Bioinformatic data evaluation, including statistical modelling and experimental design, is applied to systematically and comprehensively examine the results obtained.
