Human motion perception and its application in motion simulation with special interest in pilot education and training

Sukhoi Superjet Full Flight Simulator Schwandtner

Have you ever thought why a flight simulator, or a driving simulator provides such realistic sensations that you feel like real flying, like real driving? How can such a ‘small’ motion device represent the real motion of a car, of an aircraft, of a ship, of any specific means of transport?

This talk will explain how motion simulators works, the basic principles behind human motion perception, how it can be modelled, why we need motion cueing algorithms and how they work to control a motion simulator
